Incorrect Milage Calcuatlion

My previous fill up was 5640 miles and my last fill up was 5995. This is a difference of 355 miles yet Fuelly calculates that it is only 207. This is making my average per gallon much lower than it actually is. What gives?

Hey PatM, I assume you're talking about your vehicle "Fulburt". If I take a look at all fuel-ups here, I see that your odometer readings are all over the map on different dates. So on July 11th, your odometer said 6355, but on June 20 your odometer said 6503. So Fuelly is trying its best to keep up with your fuel-ups by sorting them in order of miles rather than date, but they don't seem to be consistent. Is it possible you're adding fuel-ups from your other vehicle to your "Fulburt" vehicle by mistake?

(ps, no problem with posting here, but in the future these types of questions might work better via the contact form rather than the forum.)

Same. The thing is deifnitely screwing up. Look at the 0.5 mpg run. There's no way that could be right.

visible, your latest fuel-up is causing the snag. On July 17 your odometer says 156160 but on July 14 it said 158968. Your new fuel-up shouldn't have a lower odometer reading--and that bad reading is very close the same reading where you have the 0.5 mpg calculation. So Fuelly is putting your fuel-ups in order of odometer readings to calculate MPG. If you have a bad odometer reading somewhere along the line, you'll get a bad mpg somewhere too.

If you fix up your latest fuel-up you should be set again.

I'm a dumbass. I just noticed it before reading this. Please spare me.
