Is it possible to chirp 3rd gear in my car???

I still suck at driving the clutch on the street but whenever I race the car I get compliments how good I shift. I can chirp 2nd gear. Is it possible to chirp 3rd gear if i get good enough or does it require a lot more hp???

the car is a 99 civic dx 5 speed

My Fiat 128 used to fry the tyres all the way through 2nd gear and spin easily in the 3rd gear change at about 50mph.
This was with 195 high performance road tyres.

Of course when racing wheel spin at any time means slower times , so the fastest way is not to fry the tyres.

A couple of times I fried them up just to see how easy it was and it left 2 black lines for 50 feet , but is it the fastest way to win a race - No.

Is it the fastest way to ruin $400 worth of tyres , YES.

Oh yes , thought ide just add thing , the car wasnt standard in many ways and was producing near double the orignal HP.

I don't think there are tires bad enough to chirp third on a stock DX. With an EX tranny and 30-50 more HP you might be able to

You should not be able to. Besides, if you're "racing" you'll not want to chirp you tires anyway, so I don't see the point.

This dosen't seen fuel economy related, but if you want to do it lower your tires to 10psi and shift while going around a turn you should be able to chip without much troubble.

You could also try turning hard in the rain and shifting, :p

back when i had the stock firestones on my civic, i could "chirp" too...there is no way you could do it stock in 3rd...With the tires i have on now...there is no way i could "chirp" in 2nd...more grip (not that i would want to) --horrible waste of fe...I haven't done that in...months.

my 330whp 1997 eclipse would roast tires all the way through third.
thanks to fwd and a fast spooling turbo.

Which is why the car was completely pointless and i no longer have it.

you can chirp any gear if you rev it high enough and dump the clutch.
TOp out 2nd, keep the gas pedal floored, push in the clutch, place car into 3rd, drop clutch. Chirp
Its really not that fantastic

Good luck

uh...

I'll be honest here. Compaq has mentioned "chirping" to me a few times in instant message, and I have NO idea what it is.
