What type of weight reduction have you done??
There are plenty of weight reduction threads but I want to know what each member has done in the form of weight reduction to his/her car.
Also I want to know what you plan to do. ____________________________________________ Since I got a SG2 now all I have to do is drive a couple of tanks with it to get it calibrated and don't have to run a full tank anymore. This should save me about 30 lbs+. Next I plan to take out my spare, jack and tools. Which is another 30 lbs. Then I plan to take out my stereo, which should be at least 20lbs.(Speakers too) So that is 80lbs right there. Since the car weighs 2359lbs this will put me at about 2279lbs. I drive a lot on the streets so this is beneficial to me. |
I had a salad for lunch yesterday......
Seriously, there's not much I can do to my F350 diesel. Smaller tires and aluminum rims perhaps. |
Does rust count?

Most should just clean the extra junk out of the car, otherwise, unless you want to be bare bones, interior stuff. |
I removed 100 lb of tools and other junk from my trunk...now I just carry a 25 lb toolbox in the car with me.

As for me I don't take weight reduction very seriously, unless I can remove a few hundred pounds. I will NOT remove the jack and spare, because in my mind it's silly to remove a backup plan just to save 25lbs. If I were driving the 1/4 mile at the track I'd remove everything I could... |
In my Odyssey I've removed the middle row of seats, and plan to remove the rear row as soon as I have somewhere to put it.
My Civic I gutted: -removed spare tire -removed plastic from the trunk -cut non-supporttive metals from trunk area -removed tar from trunk, rear and front -removed all audio (radio, front/rear speakers, antenna) -removed rear seat and all rear plastic trim peices -removed all carpet (from, back and trunk) -removed all HVAC and ducting from under the dash -cut non-supporttive metals from the front interior -replaced rear quarter windows with lexan -removed front windows -removed door panels. -removed a/c -replaced power steering system with manual rack -removed rear engine mount -replaced exhaust with no cat/resonator/muffler -removed all wiring no longer in use (dome light, hvac, audio) I think thats it :D Edit: Oh ya, the windshield washer fluid reservoir, hoses and nozzles :) |
