The article just makes me say, pardon the French, WTF? Do we trust big oil that much? Would we rather pay 100's of extra dollars on gas instead of our families, community, etc? What is the motive? Find it and break it. RH77 |

Anybody else notice that the source is CNW Research? These are the same people who claimed that a H2 uses less energy dust-to-dust than a Prius. Pretty much every time I read an anti-hybrid, anti-FE story it's CNW behind the stats. I do believe that people are becoming complacent again, but it's VERY difficult to trust this particular source.

That cheesy little $2.19/g we pay is such a small part of the picture and it's that way by design. Is it any wonder we squander as much oil per capita as we do here in the good ole USA? |

Gasoline Cost Externalities: Security and Protection Services 1/2005 but it was compiled before the most 2005 federal energy policy (another source) which upped the subsidies to $14B - $15B. I'd have to re-research the articles I read a few months back. IHTH |
Matt -
Here's what I found : How much are we paying for a gallon of gas? https://www.iags.org/costofoil.html Real Cost of Oil Equates to $10 Gallon Gasoline - April 2, 2006 https://www.evworld.com/view.cfm?sect...sid=11520&url= NDCF report: the hidden cost of imported oil - October 30, 2003 https://www.iags.org/n1030034.htm The Real Price of Gasoline - 1998 - 43 pages!!! https://www.icta.org/doc/Real%20Price...20Gasoline.pdf CarloSW2 |
Just wait for the (s)elections to be over. Gas prices are going to jump right back up.

I feel like I live in a country that is running straight towards a wall, while looking back at what it used to be.

Anyway, so if gas is really on average $10/gallon, then anyone who gets higher than average mpg is actually paying more per gallon than $10. This is by design. We're all led to believe that it's always better to pay less at the pump, but this injustice just leads to the squanderous thinking for which Americans are so well known. Toecutter probably already has reams of data to illustrate this nicely. :) |
