Converted Gas Saver - finally found his crowd
Hello all -
I have been tracking my fuel consumption for a few years and post it pretty regular at https://www.fueleconomy.gov. I can't wait to see what kind of information I may be able to glean from this forum and what I can add to it. I've been reading posts for about 3 hours, from guys with Metro's. I'm not a fan of the metro in the style department, but I like what it can do. Anyone own a Scion round here? Looking for ways to improve the ignition system. Peace, Love, and Chicken Grease! toxshox |
Welcome. Is that the paint scheme of the Xa in your Avatar? Don't forget to add your car to the garage.
What's wrong with the Xa ignition system? |
welcome indeed... there is at least one Scion xB on here, but no hatches like your's.
|
Welcome to the site. I'm an admirer of the Xa / Echo 4-door hatch that we had here in Canada. A couple of years ago I actually test drove the Echo hatch (I never test drive cars).
As for your concerns in "the style department", don't worry, we'll soon have you cured of that. Duct tape and cardboard await your car! ;) |
Welcome welcome, glad to have another model/member aboard!
|
FINALLY another Scion!! Welcome!
|
dont the xA and xB have the same drive train?
also i am curious about where toyotas ignition system is lacking. i know i wish my honda had a composite intake manifold... |

Welcome to the site.
The Yaris has the same engine as the Scion xa and xb so there are quite a few of us here. The engine basic design is the same but there may be some differences, for example is the xa throttle by wire like the Yaris? The Yaris also has electric steering so that helps with FE. |
I see you are at 25.2 avg mpg on fueleconomy.gov . That is a bit low for the Scion Xa. After a few months here, you will be in the 30's for sure.
You must add your Scion to the garage ASAP. |
Two beeps of the horn for my Scion/Toyota brethern!
I just got home from a nice little vacation in South Dakota and my first chance for my car to stretch its legs. I am not pleased with the mpg as of right now but as I break in the engine I am sure it will get better. I don't even have 2000 miles on it yet. The paint scheme on my avatar is what I would paint it to resemble if I was a little more of a risk taker. I will probably two tone it in a couple years, but it would either be with a dark metallic grey on the bottom half or a dark metallic green. The comment about the ignition system is mainly because I haven't found a thing out there that is better than stock. Perhaps there is a reason for that. @ AlexK - The Xa is not throttle by wire. I read somewhere that they added that in for the first time for this platform when they designed the Yaris. As far as I know the Echo, Xa, Xb, and Yaris all have the same/very similar drivetrain. I added my car to the Garage. A couple pics of me the day it arrived and my mods I have done to it. Love, Peace and Chicken Grease! -toxshox |

oh yeah... forgot about that. it's just so disappointing that the matrix is too heavy to achieve better gas mileage :(... i might just give it up and ruin my credit.... yikes!
|
Just added my '97 Escort to the Garage and all of the past gas log entries from as far back as I care to type them.
