Hi all

Ive been reading on your forums for a few months now. You guys really have a ton of great ideas. Ive just purchased a saturn sc1 and was wondering what you guys could suggest as far as what mods would net the most gas savings right out of the chute. I appreciate any suggestions you can give.

Scangauge II

I have read all about the scangauge, it really sounds amazing. Unfortunately the car is not compatible, as its pre 1996. Do you guys know of anything similar that would work?

I've heard of a superMID, but I'm not educated on that device. Is your car an automatic or standard? I'd start off by adding your vehicle to the garage and describing it to us. Good to see another Saturn on board!

The supermid will work for most fuel injected vehicles, so you ought to be able to use it. I own one and love it. Send a PM to yoshi to get specifics in regards to your make and model.

My mistake, the car is actually a '97 sc2, so the scangauge will work. I got the car yesterday, did an oil chance using mobil 1, added an extra 10 psi to the tires. I plan to change the transaxle fluid at some point in the near future. I will have to take a picture and put it up in the garage. It has a wing on the back. Any thoughts on how badly this will hurt my gas mileage? I dont have a problem ripping it off, but only if its going to make an improvement.

Re the wing: depends on what style it is. Some OEM wings reduce drag. I'd say that most aftermarket ones increase it. Post a pic.

Another thing: which transmission do you have? Is it an auto or a manual?

Its a factory installed wing. The kind you see on all the saturns. I have a 5sp transmission. Just filled it up today. My first tank came out to 34 mpg. I have noticed a couple of Saturn owners on the forum have gapped there plugs at .3 instead of the recommended .4. How does this benefit fuel economy and would there be any negative effects on the motor? I will get a picture up in the next couple of days. Merry Christmas to all
