I only ran one with then one without, no real difference. I haven't given up yet, I plan to come back to it when my engine is running better or possibly in a different vehicle that i could use a scanguage on.
I do plan to either get this engine in a better shape of tune or swap in one of my backups. I'm leaning towards swapping one in because this engine has been overheated pretty bad on a couple occasions.

Mixing diesel oil in gasoline.
 
Mixing diesel oil of any blend for using in a gasoline engine is definitely not a wise move. Some of that diesel fuel will end up deposited in the engine oil, diluting or thinning the oil. Check it out with oil analysis.

on a car with a fuel injection and a knock sensor i could see a lower octane rating hurting FE but because i have a carb i don't think it would hurt my FE unless the octane rating dropped enough to cause pinging.

The octane rating is a serious factor to be considered.
