2002 worse milage
What's with the 2002 Malibu getting worse mileage than other years?
https://www.fuelly.com/car/chevrolet/...gas%20v6/sedan I realize this just might be b/c of small sample size, but it still sucks for me. Hy-way driving gets me near 27mpg, so I'm not totally off. But most of my driving is in town. |
You can probably use Wikipedia to find if there were any physical differences in model year 2002. If not, it is just a sample size problem.

i don't see a measurable difference until 2004 when the larger more efficient V6 was put in the car...https://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/calcu...1&id=19739
if driven correctly, that car can get 30+ mpg on the hwy. around town you need to really pay attention to traffic if you want to see decent mileage. fyi, i go by the old EPA estimates for mpg. again, driven correctly, these numbers can be achieved, and even surpassed by conscience drivers. |
My 2001 is getting 23mpg with mix driving using 87octane. Back when i used 89octane E10, i was getting 18-20mpg. My malibu has the 3100 v6
