KPS, where are you? You seem to have more of an inside line on the technical Fit stuff... Any news?

Try cars.com for the gear ratios. "Research Cars".
Under "Specs", engine/drivetrain section. You likely have to specify a particular version of the model to see it.

OK, I didn't look.
But sometimes I've found gear ratios there.

Test Fleet Selection / Verification

The vehicle manufacturers perform all emissions and fuel economy testing for new model vehicles and send a summary to the appropriate federal department. Emissions summaries are reviewed by Environment Canada; fuel economy summaries are reviewed by Transport Canada.

Each year a specific number of new model vehicles are purchased and tested by the canadian government and the results are compared to the data received from the manufacturers. Both Environment Canada and Transport Canada work closely with the vehicle manufacturers to resolve any differences in test results.

The following factors contribute to the selection of the canadian test fleet:

* high production volume
* new engine technology
* a specific problem in a previous model year.

Okay, on second thought, I'll bet thy didn't do anything other than get a better test score and change their print ads to reflect that. It's on the honor system and I doubt TC verifies many ratings and with the egg on their face over declaring the 6.5 LHK cutoff, I doubt they'd give Honda any flak over them "achieving" a better score.

Viessmann did the same with their high efficiency condensing boilers. It was always rated 94.2% AFUE. When EnergyStar grants came out last season for 95% plus boilers, it was re-rated to 95.2%.

It's being redesigned next year so I can't see them redoing the gearbox or anything for that small of a difference except maybe a mild ECU tweak... and then again maybe not even that.

Problem is I've yet to read anything that says the US model will have the changes also.

just change the tire model... instant mpg. you wouldnt even need a lrr tire just a tire that has mildly lower rolling resistance. that would also explain increase in city efficiency that could be equal, percentage wise, to the increase in highway efficiency.
