I've noticed lots of people in the grp. are interested in electrics. Thought this might interest someone to far for me.

GasSavers_PyroZ28 05-31-2007 06:24 PM

MetroMPG 05-31-2007 06:25 PM

BTW, I hear the '92 Metro EV's were much better than the 91's ;)

Silveredwings 05-31-2007 06:31 PM

Ya, the 91's didn't have racing stripes, but the 92's do...

Silveredwings 06-01-2007 06:45 AM

It looks like the '91 is going to be both more money and more work to make road worthy.

It's a shame because I could go take a look during lunch some day.

SVOboy 06-01-2007 06:52 AM

Why do you not try? You and darin could be twins.

"I HAVE A OLD TITLE SIGNED TO A DECEASED MAN"

Doesn't that mean the deceased man's estate owns the car??

MetroMPG 06-01-2007 07:05 AM

SW: if you do it, I'll send you the plans for the racing stripes. People will think you got a '92.

My guess is that the estate's executor would have to sign the existing title over to the new owner before the registry would re-title that car. Meanwhile the bids pile up sight unseen.

You're alright (I don't care what everybody says about you). :D

MetroMPG 06-01-2007 07:52 AM

I see he had progressed past exhaust system removal, but not quite to fuel line removal.

That contactor/potbox gave me a hint the EV components weren't worth much:

...but this made me dread the possibilities:

(in defense of the creator, it was a work in progress)

SVOboy 06-03-2007 06:13 PM

Yikers! You make a strong point.

GasSavers_Ryland 06-03-2007 09:34 PM

If he has the title, but it's signed, then you simply look at who it was last titled to, find that person, give them a hand full of dollar bills, and ask them to make a trip the DMV to get a duplicate title printed in their name so that they can sign it over to you, it's that simple, the hard part with missing titles is finding out who it was last titled to, unless there is paper work to give you a clue it can be nearly impossible, this seems simple.

MetroMPG 06-04-2007 04:53 AM

That's a wild potbox! I'd guess it's actually a big rheostat, or an array of discrete resistors, rather than a carbon-type infinitely variable sliding resistor.

Another thing I noticed is the motor itself looks fairly small. Diameter is similar to ours, but length is much less. Keep in mind with our motor mounted with the tranny on the 3-cyl mounts (as this one is), our motor almost touched the right side frame.

For comparison - this is our motor in the 4-cyl offset position (offset to the L is about 4 inches). Motor is 15 in. long:

Scary wiring...

MetroMPG 06-09-2007 05:43 PM

SOLD!

US $1,005.00

Anyone we know??

SVOboy 06-09-2007 07:25 PM

What do you think about that price? Perhaps you should ask the seller to tell the buyer to come on here, :)
