The HXs are great. I had a 99 silver HX which I should have never got rid of. I was getting low to mid 40s for gas mileage and it was a nice sporty coupe. I paid $4k for mines with 125k on the odometer. I wound up trading it in when I got my RSX Type S.

I just got a hx from a friend with the y5 motor and the M/T

its a scream... i went 546miles on 10.6 gallons of gas my first fill up

I had it up to 90 twice. once i didnt even realize it (very used to cruise control)

I drive an 01 HX and I love it. Its a Civic so its not fast, but it's given me the best milage of any car I've driven since I bought it new.

I average around 40-41mpg, but the last tank got me 46! 102k miles and still running like a champ. If you can find one, I suggest getting one. Honda stopped production with the new generation, (06-present) but the 01-05's are the thriftiest 100% gasoline car available. It just sucks when the heated o2 sensor dies and it costs $250 to replace it. :(

I've been thinking about getting another HX to have with my VX, but I doubt I can find one in the same condition with the same miles and price.

look for the hx the vx offers a bit more mpg but the hx gives you more onramp power. its obd2 which helps keeping everything going. my last tank was 51 for what that is worth.

its the next generation of the vtec-e ..

Nice job on the mileage!!!!!

im still getting a baseline I hope no one has added any fuel to my tank.

The HX is a better all around car than the VX (which is no surprise since it's basically a revised VX). It might not get quite as ridiculous mileage as the VX, but the trade-offs are well worth it.

This is coming from a VX owner who swapped in a later generation VTEC-E motor.

Do you have manual or auto tranny?

My upgraded HX now gets 44 mpg tanks. Some 25.7 mi drives home varies from 44 to 50 mpg drives, 80% hwy.

Manual. I didn't want to take the chance on a CVT. And manual is more fun anyway.

I drive 80 miles to and from work each day and its about 50% highway (~80mph) and 50% country road (~50 mph) with hills and a few stops. If I slowed down, I'm sure I'd be in the 50+mpg range, but 47 is good for me.
