On the direct injection engines, is the compression ratio higher or anything interesting like that? Just wondering what the benefit is supposed to be.

How's the torque steer?

Interesting. I hope it works out well in reality. Didn't Mitsubishi sell gasoline powered direct injection engines for a while? I wonder if they delivered on the promises.

Direct Injection

Several manufactures use direct injection for gas engines now. Mitsubishi has for many years, just not in the states. Isuzu sold a DI engine in the Rodeo several years ago, in the states, I believe that was the first in the states. BMW is another big user of DI. GM has recently started selling a DI engine as well

Several others in the EU have DI engines. They deliver better mileage and reduce emissions. I am guessing that soon most engines will be DI and throtle-less as well. Sorta like FI replacing carburetors.
