Hey guys I just saw a Citro?n 2CV today at Whole Foods. Pretty Awesome. These things could get 3L/100Km. Here are some pictures from Wiki. . .

Every time I see a 2CV, all I can think of is the Top Gear "test" of one against a 4 engine jet. (There's a Ford Mondeo in there too, but watch the 2CV, it's funnier.)

I like this video of disassembling a 2CV:

No way a 2CV will get 3 L/100 km in normal driving! They were more like 5.2 L/100 km in typical driving. They're kind of cool in a pre-war way, but totally unsafe and passé, except as a collector car.

Well nothing is safe in the US. 18 wheelers. Besides all it would need is a better engine/transmission or it would be a good donor vehicle for a hybrid or electric conversion. The Messerschmitt is really awesome though:

I know those goggles were ridiculous!

I've always wanted to own a 2CV, since I was a little kid in Ann Arbor Michigan, where a lot of U of M professors drove them...yeah, I know they're really unsafe (especially in a crash), but they look so cool. We had a Nash Metropolitan in 1964, which I remember my Dad saying got 30 mpg, but somehow it just wasn't as cool looking as the 2CV. Or the Fiat 600, for that matter.

I can't help but think of the Pink Panther when I see Citroens. :) The guy I sold my Beat to has something like 60 Citroens.
