Hello everyone, I'm new.
 

Hi folks,

I was surfing the web about tuning my car for utmost efficiency in its stock form. I then came about some links to crxpmg.com and gassavers.org.

So here I am and I'm interested in learning all about saving gas, especially with the crazy gas prices here in California.

I have a 1993 Honda Civic DX 4-Door and I've been getting approximately 36-39 mpg. I do a lot of 3-4 miles one-way commute to work and stop often along the way. It's amazing that I get around 36-37 with this kind of driving most of the time. The times that I do some highway driving I get higher in that range.

I know these cars can do so much better. I'm excited to learn more by lurking in this site.

You're doing pretty well for that kind of driving. With that short of a drive the only improvement is probably not driving and taking a bike or walking instead. Group your stops and drive only a couple of days a week and bike or walk the rest. Health will improve also!

Geez I wish I could bike to work again. 60 miles a day is just too big a stretch.

yeah if you can bike do it!! it is not as hard as most people think

I would love to bike but I it was stolen. I can't believe bikes are like $400+ for anything decent these days... I should get one anyways for recreation and daily riding.

Unfortunately my work will be moving soon and I'll be a good 15 minutes away by car afterwards. Hopefully, my mpg will increase then :D

thats why you crusie by garage sales and pick up a cheap one or go to walmart and get a cheap one. a bike is a bike, steel frame, sprockets, maybe shocks and tires and pedals. sit and crank! lol it will get you from home to work, well before work moves...and if you find a cheap enough one then if it get stolen then not as big of a loss. lol i had a crappy 10 speed stolen one time and they brought it back like 2 days later, they didnt even want it!

Welcome to GS! 3-4 miles@36+ MPG without any gassaving tricks? Are you sure your car didn't come with that special hamster power option they offered back in 1993? If it did, then make sure to feed them, otherwise they chew up the wiring, ;) .
