Scan Gauge not to accurate with trucks?

I have an original Scan Gauge 1 connected to my Chevy Colorado. I've been using it for quit sometime and have used it on several cars in the past. On all the cars, the gas mileage estimates have been pretty accurate, but on my truck so far in the past it seems to be a bit off.

I've changed the engine size and confirmed that it is correct, but in the past before I started doing the FE improvement driving techniques, it would be off by anywhere from 2-6 mpg (it always showed better gas mileage).

Is this because of the increased aero drag caused by the truck vs the cars?

One more question, my Scan Gauge does not have a Hybrid setting on it, so when I do the fuel injector switch mod to the truck, will Scan Gauge not show current FE?

91CavGT, I just got a 2005 Colorado cc, 3.5, auto, 3.73. I just installed my ScanGauge II. I'll keep an eye on it and see how it compares with my manual calculations.

Cool deal. I don't know if Scan Gauge 1 does anything different than the Scan Gauge 2, but I guess we'll see.

Have you been on Colorado Fans dot com yet? I have a write up in the Performance section on how to get better gas mileage with our trucks. Other members are posting up what works for them as well.

The scangauge will need to be calibrated. Its pretty simple. You need to input your fillups until its gets close every tank. It took to tanks to get my saturn calibrated.

See pages 18-19 of the manual

linked here manual for scangauge 1 but the both are available.
