Hello from Scotland
 

Just joined the site, hoping to improve my economy, fed up with the government tax on petrol. My car is a tatty green Nissan Micra, you can't get any more basic, but I want to see how much I can improve my fuel economy. So, first of all, I am trying out coasting and turning the engine off, before I start trying to modify my little car.

Very cool, and welcome. Is your Micra a K10, K11, or K12?

If I looked at your Garage I'd see it's a 97 K11. Very nice! How are the gear ratios in it? Is it a screamer at 75 mph?

my Micra is a K11, and it definatly screams at 75m/hr. I can do 25m/hr in top gear.
I have been making good fuel savings, but a lot of the roads I travel are of a narrow blind bend country type and I have to stop for tractors a lot, so coasting with the engine on seems the safest bet most of the time,maybe when I get more skilled I'll find another way.

Welcome, and if you get a chance, can you get a photo of your car in the garage? From the description, Nissan never sold anything like it here.
