Nice, I bet you'll be doing it without thinking about it before you know it.
(course it was a short tank)

baddog671 08-05-2007 08:48 PM

I filled up at half tank, so it wasnt really that short. Nearly 300 miles...

I figure I EOC'd about 90 miles out of 298. Diligence!

Nice job, congrats!

Hrrmmmmm, let's take a look :

298 miles / 3.82 gallons = 78.01 MPG

Now, remove the 90 miles of EOC :

208 / 3.82 = 54.45 MPG

Since your previous tanks were in the 50's, the 90 miles EOC definitely shows in the numbers. Were you already EOC'ing in your previous tanks?

Congratulations!

WOW nice gotta love the eoc! it really makes you want to hypermile when ya get tanks like that dosent it?

GeekGuyAndy 08-06-2007 12:04 PM

Nice! I hope that trend stays for more tanks. That is a small amount of gas, so your error is likely high, but no matter what the error is you have certainly improved a ton.

brucepick 08-06-2007 12:23 PM

Nice going!
FWIW, I typically filll up about 4 gal, sometimes about 6. Results are pretty consistent as long as I fill up at the same station. Since I have no Scangauge or SuperMID I like to top off frequently so I can get the "feedback" re. how I'm doing.

So I wouldn't worry that the "short" tank threw off the results.
I think the nice mpg is due mostly to your diligence and hard work.

Nice job. Congratulations.

GeekGuyAndy 08-06-2007 01:00 PM

Any errors would show up in the long term calculations anyway. I don't think short fills are bad, especially if someone doesn't drive often and doesn't have a scangauge since there's no other way of checking their FE.
