Where would you like that ability? On fuel-up import?

This is the way it's done in the UK, so perhaps when the site is running in UK mode all dates could be in this format?

What a good idea, English settings for England.

In fact the DD/MM/YYYY is a standard all over Europe.

In USA it's MM/DD/YYYY.

The third most often used is an industrial indicator showing YYYY/MM/DD.

This way of showing the date is very easy when wanting to sort dates, but since fuelly sorts their dates automatically, and since most cars have less than 30 refuels, sorting dates is not really an issue.

In the future however saving date in this format (YYYY/MM/DD) could save you some server processing power, as it takes less conversion for a computer to sort dates this way. That'd probably only matter when there are thousands of users using fuelly every day...

Hiya. I've just joined, really nice site and I have a few comments. Hope this is ok.

My preference isn't just to swap the numbers around in a date. It's still harder than it could be to read dates, even then.

I am a big advocate of making dates easier to read. Even if you read the dates the way around you are used to, you still convert "4" in your brain from "the 4th month" to "April". It's better to bypass that step altogether!

Which of these 3 example is easier to read. Which of them jumps out at you and is obvious?

a) 9/10

b) 10/9

c) Sep/10

Instead of doing loads of work to provide options to move the order around, why not just change the format to use month NAMES instead of month numbers? Swapping the order then becomes a lower priority, and perhaps less necessary.

The only downside is translations to other languages - and that would need all the options in user's preferences anyway. But in the meantime surely this is a quick and easy change? :-)
