I'm partial to Hondas... so honda fit and any of the non-EX Civics should be giving you very good mileage.

Stripped 07 Accord. Or Civic. Decent on gas, will last you forever.

oof i totaly forget about saturn! thier good. i like the ride and the seats. my sisters 96 SC2 blew a piston at 140K but i think it had somehting to do with her pedal to the floor driving... i would be a car dealers worst nightmare: i want a car with manual tranny, no ac, no power crap, no abs or tcs, no side airbags. :p |
go for the priui! she would kill the fe and if you drove it think how good it would be! That one up there is going for 15 grand looks really nice i think.

I forgot to mention the Toyota Matrix/Pontiac Vibe. A nice 26/33 (old school) EPA MPG with Automatic and a reliable Toyota Corolla drivetrain. Unfortunately, their base prices are both over $16K, :( . CarloSW2 |
I would go for a used prius, prius I are pretty cheap these days.
After that I would say Civic/Yaris |

I also saw a first gen with 85k miles for around the same price, but I would like second gen. |
Anything with a small 4 cylinder - my opinion will be heavily biased towards Honda Civics.

GM Ecotec power all the way! I'm getting 35 MPG out of my 04 Cavalier. I picked it up for $8500 bux w/ 18,000 miles on it. It has good power, comfortable ride, and lots o' room for groceries. :)

Does anyone have an opinion on the ford escape hybrid? Yeah I know, it's an suv  , it would also be hard to even find one, let alone under 15k. It has a similar power split trans like the prius. |
