Have Photoshop, and I'm bored !
What do you all think of these mods to a Mazda MX-3 ?

As far as the split boat tail, I'm grabbing at straws. The empty area ( the blue area) would most likely still just have stagnant air, but hopefully it would be less turbulent than air behind a Kamm back.
Your thoughts ? |
NerdsLAM -
Did the GM Impact/EV1 inspire you for the butt? Ot also reminds me of a Honda Insight. The "Duck-bill" butt looks cool. Can you get away with the duck-bill shape from an aero standpoint? CarloSW2 |

I didn't expect that one ! Did you see the little cartoon face on the car below the first sketch ? That is the first thing that started going through my mind ( " Man this thing looks like it should have a eyes stuck on there " ) Quite wierd looking for sure ! I was just brain storming. A problem that you would have with something like that would be where to put the taillights abnd the plates. I came up with the idea because I'd like to put a boat tail on my car, but have it compact. I would love to have one like Basjoos, but I was wondering if you could just create two smaller boattails and create two smooth wakes like a catamarand. If you folks remember, I have the same car as Basjoos. I really admire all that he has done. What an awesome machine he has from an aero standpoint. I wonder if the stagnation in the center area ( the blue arrows )would be smoother than just a regular Kamm back. As far as the inspiration - I just did what looks smooth. It just goes to show how that good aero has a lot in common in different cars. After I did the image, I started noticing how the second image down even looks a lot like the tail end of the Probe V. |
