Location of the A/C Expansion Valve 1995 Civic VX
Hi,
Well my A/C does not cool as well as it should at idle or very low rpms..when cruising the a/c works fine. I took it to an A/C Shop and the guy said the A/C has plenty of freon in it but he thinks that the Expansion valve is clogged and would need to be replaced. I have heard good things about this shop. He said he would replace it for 320.00. Does this sound like the right diagnosis? Does it seem like a fair price? Is it something I could do myself? I went to autozone and priced the part, 34.99. Thanks in advance... |
The expansion valve is inside the evaporator. PM me your email address and I can send you the pages from a CRX manual to help you out.

Just called them back and told them I had, had some work done by them before on a different vehicle and they will do it for $250.00...I think this is pretty fair.

Considering how much of the dash you'd have to tear apart and then have to refil the AC system with freon if you DIY, that really isn't too bad. I'd rather rebuild the engine then tear the dash apart.

Now I've had the dash in and out of my Civic a few times. Only a few wires to unplug, 6 bolts, and drop the steering column. If you don't have the equipment to properly recharge your AC system though, i think $300 or so is a fine price to pay someone to do all the work. |
I got him down to 250.00 including tax and the part..
Im going in the morning...thanks for the info! |
old post brought back, but i'm wondering how a/c is working after work done.
