API and Feedback

First, new site feedback. Don't like the forum at all. Not that I use it much, but it is not like any other forum I use, so it is not natural to use.

Second, I know that the issue of an API has been raised before. I raised it more than a year ago. So if there is no new plan for one, I've already read all the posts, and there's no need to re-explain it to me.

The question I have is this... I am working on an app for Windows Phone 7 devices (m.fuelly.com doesn't work on my WP7 now, but it did before, not sure what's up). But Here's what I'm thinking... Fuelly is a great site, but I want something in my hand, where I can use it without a signal, or without waiting for page loads, something with a more rich user experience. If there is no API, is it ok if I write my program so that it sends updates via SMS? I guess it would be kind of an unwritten partnership, where my app could be downloaded because of the features I'm putting into it that fuelly cannot do, being a website, but it could drive users to join fuelly, in order to have the information usable from their desktops. Your thoughts?

Thanks for the feedback. We'd like to keep comments about the new site in this thread, so let's stick to discussing the API/Apps here.

First of all, we want Fuelly Mobile to work for Windows Phone 7. If you could describe the problem you're having, we'd like to get that fixed up.

On the API, it's something we'd like to do someday. But it's not on our short term list. If you want to write an app that formats the SMS message for users that's great. Someone wrote an Android app that did the same thing. Just make sure you let people know there will be SMS charges associated and that it's a US number.

Gotcha.

On WP7, the last time I used fuelly mobile, it worked. Last night when I tried to use it, though, the page loaded, I entered data into the fields, and clicked the fuel up button, but it did nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Ok, so the button did turn grey for a second or two, telling me that it was clicked, but nothing else. I came home and entered the data on my computer.
