LOL yea see and this worries me because i have to drive around these tards everyday.

lol dont get me started on those crappy idiot lights, my friends century(1999btw) has a low psi tire warning light, a low coolant light, and not to long ago i was browsing thru a new car lot and one of the cars had a low windshield washer fluid light!!!

lol i think your gonan figure out if your out of cleaner when IT DOESNT SPRAY ANYMORE!!!

in my chevette i have 5 idiot lights, one is brakes(parkingbrake/brake system), seatbelt, temperature, choke/oilpsi, and battery light.its all you really need!

lol i swear todays cars arent ment to have thier hoods opened by anyone besides a mechanic...most of em have a huge plastic cover covering the engine and all you see is an oil fill cap stickin out of it:thumbdown:

i would DEFFINATELY not be wanting to be runnign AC off electric it would be a house window unit in your car
Hehe, if that were the case, the Prius wouldn't have a cD of .26 :p

Back in the 60's Honda made a 250cc inline six cly engine for motorcycle GP racing. THAT was a sweet engine!!! can you say SMALL bore/stroke?

CarloSW2

Yes, but I would want all 6 cylinders firing - slowly for economy -- overlapping power strokes with natural primary and secondary balance. Why mess that up? And I'm only talking 1500cc max... chopping the power in half through cylinder deactivation might only make sense above 3000 rpm where there is power to spare.

I'm not a big fan of cylinder deactivation. I've driven the Odyssey with it and it is noticeable, even with special engine mounts and active noise cancellation playing through the speakers.

I like simple.

VetteOwner, don't fear the electric AC, you could then possibly have options like pre-cooling your car from the house plug... Prius have electric A/C

The key thing is to keep the clutter at the end minimized to keep the package compact.

s1120, yes, they did awesome stuff then... oval pistons, 5s... amazing.

2TonJellyBean 10-12-2007 11:27 AM

Rough specs for square engines of approximately 1500 CC displacement...

cyl CCs WSA mm inches
6 1482 871 68 2.68
4 1491 764 78 3.07
3 1499 697 86 3.39
2 1478 603 98 3.86

Assuming a square bore and stroke, yes indeed a 6 cylinder would have 45% more wall surface area for piston ring friction than a 2 cylinder but it would be smooth and sweet.

Flat sixes unfortunately requires 2 cylinder heads and valvetrains, while an inline 6 needs only one.

Those oval pistons were on race engines... they did crazy things.

The oval pistons motor was Honda's way of getting around the 4cy max rule in the 500GP motorcycle class. They wanted to compeate with the 2strokes, but realy wanted more cyl's to do it. What they did realy was make a v8 motor, but with just 4 holes. Each cyl had a ovel piston, two rods, and 8 valves. WAYYYY high tech stuff for sure.
