I am basically exactly what old EPA was. 48/55 averages to about 52.2 combined. :-/ but thanks for encouragement.

I'm still struggling to get mine over the old EPA rating... I'm pretty unsure of why at this point. It runs perfect really. I'm going to install the stock intake, the higher temp t-stat, and some rear under-panels to hopefully break into the 50s...

I thought I remember you saying you high rev it fairly often. The old EPA was driving by the SIL, so it was pretty efficient anyway. If the test driver was shifting when the light was coming on, there isn't much else he could do to improve the gas mileage aside from P&G.

The old EPA without using the SIL was

44
City

51
Hwy

47
Combined

Haha, my high revving days for the VX are now in the past... Now I'm all about trying to save as much money as possible with it!

I'm assuming the SIL is the shift light?

I just got mine working, and was shifting at a lower RPM than it tells me to shift, so going along with the shift points it tells me should help. But the other day I realized I drive about 90% rural roads, so that is probably another reason for my lack of good MPG #s.

I'm not sure if the stock intake will help, but I should have that installed for most of this tank. I know my current filter is dirty, so that could be an issue too.

Dirty filter will def hurt FE. If rural roads means lots of stop signs, then, yeah, that's no good. Yep, SIL = shift indicator light. How did you get yours fixed? At about what RPM does yours tell you to shift? Mine is a bit wonky. Wants me to shift pretty early, especially, for some reason, from fourth to fifth gear at like 1150, 1200 rpm if I'm feather footing it.

My shift light seems right-on to me.

If I'm driving somewhere relatively flat it'll be...

2nd is about 1900-2100
3rd is about 2000
4th is about the same
5th is about 1600 but once I saw it low as 1400

For mine, the previous owner unplugged the wires for the shift light from the back of the cluster. I plugged it in when I had the cluster out, and now it works perfect thankfully.
