FNG-Request Permission To Come Aboard

Hello!

I recently got a gas saver vehicle to drive for the winter to improve on the mileage my V10/10mpg truck gets. I wound up with an '89 Honda CRX.

40mpg > 10mpg

I'm inspired by your collective purpose and wish to learn and share.

Great choice for a gas saving and reliable car.

PanamaColin, I have DX version. It cleaned up pretty good inside even though I had to take it apart to clean it of all the gravel road dirt/dust/mud and the large white dog hairs. There's nothing for cleaning the insides like a garden hose and a big shop-vac. (Tip for Removing Animal Hairs: Get one of those multi-fingered soft rubber animal hair brushes, use in a circular motion with a brush/vac/brush/vac method. Also, if you're going to wet clean the carpet & seats save the brush and final vac for after you wet clean)

The outside is probably the most distinctive paint I've seen in some time. The previous owners (a nice young couple of the hippie persuasion) had done a terrific low-$$ version of a woodland camoflage pattern. It certainly gets the looks! It's a hunting area here so most of the looks are kind ones.

I've had a 4x4 since 1988, and my '98 Z-28 for three years, but I'm always looking for ways to save some dough...this seemed like a pretty good one. I figure I'll have paid for the CRX with fuel cost savings by about March or April of 2008 by not driving the truck after I put the Camaro up for the winter.

It's a pile of rust, but basically sound. 254,xxx miles. 42mpg hwy, don't know about city yet. I've aired the tires up and put in Havoline DS 5w-30, along w/Penzzoil Platinum 10w-30 (the older, real synthetic) in the gearbox. I did a Seafoam treatment before the oil change and I may do an Auto-RX treatment soonish. I dunno, though, I'm trying to be as cheap as possible with it but I like nice vehicles and haven't had a crappy car since about 1980. It's tough not to fool with it.

Okay. That requires posting a photo!

I have a couple of photos taken but have been busy this week and haven't gotten them off the camera yet.

I'll get right on that...
