karnovking from PA

Hello, I'm from the philadelphia area of PA.
karnovking was a name I came up with one day when I was playing the game Karnov on my old NES 8 bit system. I thought it sounded unique.

my current daily driver is a 1993 Honda Civic DX (automatic) averaging 36 mpg.

Other "gas savers" in the past that I owned were
1994 Honda Civic DX (5spd) 46mpg avg.
1983 Nissan Pulsar (5spd) 33mpg avg.
1999 Hyundai Accent (5spd) 34 mpg
1989 Geo Metro (5spd), wasn't keeping track of my mpgs back then

Anyway, thats my story!

karnovking -

Welcome to GS! That's a nice stable of thrifty McGasSavers you've had over the years. What made you choose an Automatic this time around?

Ooh! a pulsar. I had an 86. 69hp of raw terror on the street. I read a 1983 car magazine and the pulsar turbo had the slowest 0-20 of anycar they tested.

Karnov... great game. Wish they would find a way to sneak him in to the next Smash Brothers. Dang that guy was badass. Not badass enough to make the game an easy run-through by any means though...

Anyways, welcome to the board, and rest assured that you are not the only Karnov fan here.

What kind of techniques have you tried so far on your car?

Hello and welcome to the site! Ask lots of questions and get a gas log going :)

cfg83, The 1993 auto civic was my wife's, she can drive stick, but she is better off in an auto. We ended up getting an oddessy to haul the kids in. So one of the civics had to go. I had a 94 civic 5 speed 226K on it. State inspection was comming up and I knew it was going to need close to 1000 in repairs plus timing belt replacement on top of that in the near future, so I decided to keep the auto since it had a fresh timing belt, water pump, oil seal, new windsheild, tires, etc. I would have spent my gas savings on repairs for the 5spd civic. Plus I drive a stick truck at work all day and it is nice to not have to shift in traffic on the way home.

Edrick, haven't really tried any techniques on my car other than coasting up to lights and stop signs and slow acceleration. My all time best mpg was 52.4 in my 94 civic DX 5spd on a mostly highway trip.

Odieturbo, I was thinking of doing a gas log here, but I got one going at fueleconomy.gov which i've been using two and a half years now, so i'll probably stick with that since i've got such a long history.

lovemysan, I don't remember much about my pulsar. I only had it about 4 months back in 1999. my fondest memories of it were the analog clock in the middle of the dashboard and once i had a bit of road rage and punched the steering wheel, which caused the horn to stay on for a long time. I ended up junking that car, it had 220K on it and so much rust that there was no way the thing would pass state inspection without pouring alot of money into it.
