Can't really go wrong here? $1500 97 SC2
Been thinking about picking this up. I figure I can't really go too wrong on $1500 bucks.
https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/car/479857738.html Its a 97 Saturn SC2 with around 99k 5 speed. Doing the math, if I simply didn't drive the Heep for a year the savings in gas alone would pay it off. Having spoken to cfg earlier in the summer when my sister was looking the only problem with these could be their timing chain gears and oil changes. Any downsides to it? |
Not much headroom in those. I'm 6' and consider them well outside my comfort range for an everyday driver. It would be a cheap gassaver. Do the usual checks.

If it has the same engine as a '93 SW.... Even if you had to do a timing chain job - it's not too terrible. I ended up doing such a job for my parents as they let the oil run dry, and the chain guides blew apart (and the chain started eating through the valve cover). Despite that, it still ran - and for less than $200 and half of a weekend, it was fixed  That car wasn't treated well, it complained - but it never totally died :p
