Back from my road trip. Guess my range.
Im back from my roadtrip. Heres the other topic.
https://www.gassavers.org/showthread.php?t=5615 To recap the best I ever did with my Regal was 511 miles on 1 tank and about 33 MPG. I'll let you guys re-guess. When I pulled off that 33MPG run it was anyway from 50-90 degrees but on average it was in the 75 range. I only tracked the economy on the way there and on the way there the temp was 43-61, it was on average 55 degrees and I was in the rain for about 2 hours. I went 55 mph 90% of the way and I fought temptation and didnt go WOT at all. I gave up and put gas in once I hit traffic. I put in 15.163 gallons, so guess my range and divide that by 15.163 and guess my MPG https://www.fuelly.com/attachments/fo...315a99d089.jpg If gassavers.org stickers are ever available again the winner gets a sticker. |
519 miles on 15.163 gallons...or...34.23mpg

Stop teasing! I've been waiting a week to know already. :D

33mpg is real good considering the power you got, and the weight of the car, if all the powerfull sedan out there could do some 30mpg+, OPEP would do bankruptcy...

Yes sir, even one heavy foot run per tank hurts mpg, I know not only about that but about how hard the temptation is to resist. :p
I almost assume yours is a GN edition? Because the hardest times I had and have dealing with the WOT temptation is in a T-bird 5.0, also the bmw 325 and even my 3/4 ton truck half-loaded weighs 3.7 tons you would think there's no sense but I assure you it is hard to resist that 400hp engine (the speedo goes past 120 and I've never done it but I believe it would lol). Heck I finally got away from WOT then it dawned on me that even 3/4 throttle was hard on it, but I can tell you one thing it did help in the early days: When you absolutely must WOT, go 3/4's instead > You still get most of the pleasure of the WOT but it helps your mpg. That's how I started, go 3/4's to get away from the 'Wot of mpg death' 1/2 down is fun too, you just have to think "the effect lasts longer this way" When you're down to 'feeling' it between 1/3'rd to 2/3'rds of wot you're on your way. Next comes the ultimately brain buster, never step on it (but that's way past 3/4's). Because even ONE heavy footing the entire tank affects mpg... THAT took the longest to master, to never step on it at all, still I'm not perfect. .......... Other notes of interest: Driving a high performance car is about control. It took me many years to realize this control refers to never stepping on it. Control is knowing you have it, then not using it, ever. That's what they really mean by control, wow that hurt to learn this. |
WOW 3.799 a gallon OUCH - Gas just hit 3.019 around here.

I can count on both hands the number of times I smoked the tires and went wot. When I did punch it, you could watch the accelerator go up and the gas gauge go down at the same time. Really. Best lesson of that experience was that owning a hot rod and not being able to drive fast is not very satisfying. It's much more satisfying to drive my little VX around any way I want and get better mileage than a Prius on just about any given day with very little initial expense. |
Well...what are the numbers?
|
The rain and colder weather killed me.
I only pulled off 483 miles so 31.85 miles per gallon Im taking my Truck next time I do this road trip but next time I take My Buick Im thinking of blocking off the grille and air dam. Can you use saran wrap and tape? So who ever got closest to 31.85 I owe you a sticker whenever their on sale again. |

But yeah 1 nice WOT ,run and your quest for 30's is over  |
