Hey guys i'm new here and just wanted to post up a couple of my results. First my roomates beater civic a 95 ex coupe. D16a motor swapped in(essentially identical to the stock motor), hot air intake, stock exhaust and a tuned ecu done by me. We are getting about 43mpg on the highway with it. Also my 98 ex coupe with a turbo d16z6 running around 15psi on a garrett t3to4e 57trim making right around 300whp, and running 1000cc/min injectors also tuned by me is getting around 30mpg with me still getting down on it quite often:D . I tune cars for a living right now and am a mechanical engineering student.

Heres a couple of old pics of my car. Engine now has a stainless steel downpipe and dump tube plus the bigger injectors(i know they are too big for the power level i'm at, but i will be putting a built motor in now that will put them to better use.)

Welcome. 30mpg for a turboed D16 is pretty good. If I had a turbo in my Integra, i don't think I could keep my foot out of it.

What are you tuning with?

WOW! I need to turbo my D16z6 then. haha. Like what mrmad said, what are you tuning with? also what's done to the motor? Welcome to the site.

Welcome! Nice mpg's on both cars. Definitely liking the 30mpg on the turbo car. Is that calculated w/driving regularly or babying the turbo? Do you use or have a special program to tune the cars, or are you genius?:D (j/k) Just wondering if you hook it up to a special labtop that you use to tweek the engines with. Would you be able to tune the engine a little bit w/the Apex AFC (something like that)? Why I ask? I'll be trading my 07 Honda SI sedan in for an 04' Civic EX coupe. I want to tweek the coupe a little bit more for fuel efficiency (if possible) due to my 380 mile weekly commute. Thanks. Once again, Welcome to GS.:D

Thanks for the welcome guys. My engine is bone stock except for arp headstuds, a zex 59300 cam, and upgraded valvesprings to support the cam. I mostly tune hondas with obd1 rom edtors. My roomates car was tuned with crome and my car was tuned with neptune rtp. They basically allow me to rewrite all of the stock code as needed. My 30mpg was an old value i calculated a while back before i got some of my newer power upgrades which was with me getting down on it quite often. I just checked it more recently and it had gone down to 26mpg, which still aint to shabby. This included a lot of full throttle pulls and a good mix of highway and around town driving. I believe that if i kept my foot out of it and tested just highway miles that it would go up quite a bit.

With an afc you will be able to tweak it a little, but or the same money you can chip your ecu and run crome. It will need to be professionally tuned unless you want to take the time to learn the software yourself and also buy all of the equipment for tuning it.

I'd probably run an afc and lean the low throttle map w/ a wideband before using a chipped obd1 ecu for anything past a 2000 civic (I think he wanted to use it for an 04).
