ON?FL -- Wanna guess my mileage?
Saturday, this "suv commutin' tard" and family are heading to Northern Florida from the Toronto area. Left to my own devices I tend to go 50 - 55 MPH on long trips but I may be tempted to bump it up a notch (maybe 60 to 65 in SC and GA when it gets flat) to keep this straight through drive under 24 hours. I'll be filling up here and then switching the ScanGauge over to good old miles and gallons.
There'll be a bike or two on the back so the aero won't be the best. The middle of the trip goes through the ups and downs of West Virginia where the mileage should be the worst although the speed there will be lowest especially near the ends of climbs. It's a 3.3L Santa Fe with AWD. 1144 miles $10 via pay-pal to the first poster with a ? MPG of the actual. I may not be able to post results until a day or two after xmas... |
23.5mpg
|
I'll be optimistic...25.7mpg?
|
21.5
|
Minger was that a dyslexic 27.5?
Otherwise are you going 25½ or do you want 26? |
Ok...how about 28.0 :-)

21.0 and I wish you luck and safety!

if you can stick at 55-60mph, have a full vehicle with bikes on the back, I think you should be able to get 15% over EPA highway if it was ideal, so I'm going to aim low and guess 27mpg
|
24.5 and have a great trip
|
I'll go out on a limb and say 29.5
|
23.5 is my guess.
not to highjack hyour post, but i'm heading to tenn tommorow (sat) hoping to stay over 35 mpg. |

Have a safe trip and a happy holiday... and I hope you get 40. |
I'll stick with my 25.7, even if it really means 25.5.
|
26.5

Congrats... It was 26.7 weighted average for the trip. 26.3 for the first tank which seemed low but it was nearly all into the wind 26.0 in the middle mountainous section (10-13 up or 40-150 down) 28.7 along the flats although 55 on I95 was nearly impossible to do No EOC, no drafting, averaged in the low 50 MPH rage. Scary thought - I only saw a handful of cars on I95 that would have been getting better mileage than my gas sucker. |
