There have been a couple recent threads on this exact issue. New plugs, tuneup, and several other items should be checked. Keep us updated - you will get a LOT of input on this.

Welcome! You should be able to get mid 40's with the cx reliably, if it is in good shape mechanically. Does it have the stock tranny and engine? What size tires? PSI? Do you keep the engine at low RPMs and Drive under 65MPH? How many miles does the CX have?

it has the stock motor and tranny, but it does have 265k on it, the motor is in decent shape. The only thing is the throwout bearing needs to be replaced cause the noise is just killing me. i got 185/65/14 on it, just checked the psi and the front were at 29 psi and the rear were around 24. i raised them all and put them about 40 psi.

Sounds like the car just needs a tune-up. (plugs, wires, dist. cap, rotor)

Might want to change the o2 sensor while you're at it since with those miles, it's probably due.
