Small, Stripped Cars

https://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/...d-loaded_N.htm

altho not really about FE, this article is an interesting read. perhaps the writer SHOULD have put an emphasis on that(FE).

"You don't give up quality or good design when you go into a smaller vehicle today." it's my hope that this popped a few hundred thousand readers directly in the mouth.

at the current fuel prices, i'm saving about $60/month with my new small car vs my old fullsize one. in fact, taking into consideration the new car, mods, and hypermiler driving style, i'm very close to doubling my FE.

standard disclaimer applies: not criticizing those that actually require larger vehicles, just the majority that could and should downsize!

I'd rather buy a stripped down car...because less crap will break on them...not to mention that they weigh less and get more mpg.

I've always liked the way they feel to drive as well. Really connected to the road, and you can tell exactly how far from the curb you are.

Just bought an 89 CRX. Definitely a stripped car - stripped out the back seats and the several feet of car supporting them! Manual windows - gasp! And I can reach the passenger window to roll it down if need be.

Doesn't sit up high like an SUV, can drive over 450 miles on a tank without trying hard, goal is 600 in the automatic, goal is 1000 miles when I get the second CRX with modified stick transmission.

And it is FUN to drive - much more fun than most anything on the market today!
