People are starting to hog Metros

This is probably old news to a lot of us here, but I came across this article today:

https://www.cnn.com/2008/LIVING/wayof...f=mpstoryemail

Get your Metros before they become too expensive!!

GasSavers_RoadWarrior 05-21-2008 02:35 AM

Yeah, I've got 6 hanging from the rafters in the barn, I figure I'll give it a couple of years and a few more $ a gallon, then I'll send them down to Barret-Jackson and retire to my own island in the Carribean...

j/k ;)

My Metro (Swift actually) is a chick magnet! Nerd Power!

With gas prices going the way they are, small motorcycles will be the next thing people will hoard. I have a few of those too.

wow.. paying 7200 for a pos metro when you can buy a civic or corolla for alot less and more reliable, and maybe a tad bit less mpg. where has this world gone to...

Some folks simply do not want a honda, no how no way.

Wow - I wonder why people don't want Hondas? They have legendary reliability, many of them were assembled here in the US (there is also a Toyota plant in Buffalo, WV, and Smyrna, Ohio has a Nissan plant), they go forever, get better mileage than US cars like Ford & Chevy - I honestly wonder why?

^^Just plain 'ole fashioned hard headedness. But that's cool. Just more Honda's for you and me. I have sure loved every one that I have owned.

I got my geo prizm for 1500 bux about 2 or 3 months ago, Hooray! I think the bondo on the passenger side door might be increasing the drag :(. But with 32.5/35 not much to complain about.

The Metro is an investment in the future, Solomon said, even if she did pay more than five times the Blue Book value of the car.
This woman is stupid. What kind of future is there in a '97 Metro? The point of these cars is to get them cheap, because aside from their gas mileage they have very few redeeming qualities.

If she had went ahead and bought a Prius, that would be an investment in the future.

nickpitt03 06-13-2008 06:10 AM

I agree, the woman is a moron. She should have just traded in her Element for a Prius or a Civic Hybrid, that way in 5 years she would still have value left in the car. If you pay 7,300 for a Metro, you're a moron.

GasSavers_RoadWarrior 06-13-2008 09:25 AM

IMO hybrid resale value is only gonna stay so high while i) there are few on the market (There's more every year) ii) the manufacturers tighten up on the "free" batteries and you're SOL to the tune of 5K or so when they're kaput.
