BMW has (I can‘t remember which) either a concept car or a model exclusive to Europe that uses a high and low temp steam system to help turn the crank shaft. I read about it in Popular Science a year or so ago.

I'd love to rebuild an old XFI engine and do alot of custom work to it. Aluminum everything, dyno-tuning, the works...

Then convert it to turbo-diesel. If a VW TDI can get 50-60mpg, imagine a XFI TDI?
