can you put a VX head onto a y7 block for better FE?

how would this swap do? a vx head on a y7 block? im guessing you'd have to use the vx ecu too?

also, would you have to change the wiring harness?

no im pretty sure its a simple bolt up, the only thing that would change is the ecu. i've been thinking of doing the D15B VTEC-E head swap on my D16Z6 but no one wants to ship me just the head and the ecu. they want me to buy the whole motor!

have you looked for a rebuilt head from online shops? im not sure what the code for the vx head is? >> what would that be vx owners??

also what is the vx ecu part number as well?

I'm not 100% on this and have no personal experience here, so I could be off, but just make sure you check what the final compression ratio would be. I know that if I swapped the VX head on to my d15, the compression would go up to around 12:1, or so I've been told.

I'm pretty sure you would need to replace the pistons since the VX has dished pistons and tiny combustion chambers. I think it is the only D series that does.

Also keep in mind that the increased stroke of the 1.6 liter bottom end will increase compression above and beyond the increase you would expect from the pistons alone.

no i haven't and i have no clue. everyone keeps telling me to just use my ecu and reburn the program in there. i think i could probably do that and save a little money there. but as far as the vx head.... i have no clue..... lol!

You would need the VX pistons also.
