New member with ZX2.
Hello all,
Found this forum after I got a new job and needed to find a used car to replace the company car I was losing. I picked up a 1999 ZX2 with 62000 miles. 5 speed manual trans and still all stock. I do not use any techniques other than conservative driving (5 under on the freeway - 55 in the 55 zones, no rapid acceleration) and I am averaging 36 to 37mpg per fillup. I drive 34 miles 1 way to work 5 days a week and usually a couple extra hundred miles per week to other locations. I would guess 80 to 90% highway and 10 to 20% city. I am thrilled so far with what I have to start with as a baseline and look forward to learning more easy tricks. Best to all, Craig Moore Mancelona, MI |
welcome,
the first thing I would purchase (if budget permits) is a scangauge. look them up www.scangauge.com you can get them other places cheaper but at least check out the info also a grill block this will help with aerodynamics and engine warm up. maybe a WAI (warm air intake) this doesn't work for everyone. if your car does compensate for temp, then it should help. also put your car in the garage so that you can track your mileage and share info with others. research is the key and this is a good place to do it. some of the guys on here have nearly doubled their mileage with aero mods and driving techniques. I am not quite as good as others but I am getting there. good luck to you |
dont forget to air up your tires to max on the side walls. Complete tune-up as well
