When it is visual, it hits home .... that is right 27 gallons, just for 280 miles

My Astros are close to that with 25 gallon tanks, but I'm getting much better gas mileage.

I've got a 38 gallon tank on my F250SD V10. I might get as much as 12mpg on the hiway. Mostly in town, and I usually get 10mpg.

I don't drive it much any more. We have to move our other daughter (not related by blood) this weekend. Again. It's a good thing next week is payday.

There must be something wrong with your Tahoe. I can usually get 300 miles out of a tank in the Beast with mixed highway and city driving, and I've never put more than 20 or 21 gallons in it. I'm too chicken to try and run it too close to empty. I'm regularly in areas where there is no fuel station for over 10 miles.

27 gallons X 58 MPG= 1160+406=1566 miles in my VX.

There is actually 29 gallons (juice containers) there.

My '97 GMC Yukon gets ~10mpg, and has a 30 gallon tank. Let's just say I don't drive it much!

Why are these Yukons getting such poor mileage? Look at my gaslog for the Beast. Those numbers are down because of the failed methanol experiment, but even those seem to be better than what some of these Yukons are getting.

Well, 200k on the original engine could have something to do with it. It's just really tired. I've beat the living crap out of this truck, and it hasn't ever let me down. The only time is ever gets driven is when I go camping or wheeling so that could also be part of the reason for the mileage.

Hypermiling was not even a thought when it was my daily driver!

175,000 miles on my 2002 Sierra, did a moderate amount of heavy towing, much hauling, quite a bit of hard driving, and a moderate amount of rough terrain...Look at my gaslog. Average 18.5mpg. Before I knew anything about hypermiling, in the winter when I was using the remote starter daily and idling a whole lot, I was getting 15.5mpg.

Your 10mpg is definitely because you only ever use it for towing and wheeling.

Come to think of it, I got 10 to 12 mpg towing my 6000 pound 26' camper.
