Some small cars burn gas like a small truck

Ok, so my civic is wrecked because someone in a huge oldsmobile pulled out in front of me. It was an 88 STD and I loved it. The rental place loaned me a Chevy Cobalt. This thing gets 21 mpg per the readout on the cluster. I can't figure out why such a small car can get such horrible mpg. They were going to give me a PT Cruiser but I thought this smaller car would be better. In the city I get maybe 17. In a nutshell this car is a piece of junk.

Wow, bummer. That's the first report I've heard of someone unsatisfied with the Cobalt's fuel economy, it seems like most people do a lot better.

Junky transmission gearing, overly powerful motor, nonexistent stick shift. This is the same vehicle that introduced "Revolutionary" new ways to boost mileage - by adding stick shift on next year's models.

Put race-like acceleration times in the hands of unqualified drivers - you get lots of accidents and poor fuel economy.

This from the board members of the car companies who also happen to sit on the oil company boards!
