Chevrolet Cruze/Cobalt
 

Looks like the upcoming Chevrolet Cruze (Cobalt replacement) could be promising. It's powered by a 1.4 liter direct injection turbo engine, estimated to give around 40 mpg. Being a self admitted GM leg humper, I think it should do well. :D

i dont think i like the shape, but kudos to them for going with forced induction and smaller displacement for fuel economy

Hybrid - like fuel economy without the hybrid price tag. It should sell like ice water in hell.

GM should just adapt this concept to its full size pickup trucks, with a ~3 liter DI turbo four based on its Atlas engine. I'd be in heaven, cruising at 25 mpg.

it really favors a honda civic. I too am a fan of the cavaliers/cobalt/(whatever's next)

did they say anything about price? I scanned the articles (didn't read them completely) and I didn't see anything about it.

Fours get "difficult" around 2.5L plus. Might have to be a V6...

I do kinda like the style of it, reminds me of a mazda.

Is this a new ecotec engine or is this a differently designed 4 cylinder?

I know Honda engineering helped GM with the ecotec, so as long as another foreign company helped with the engine design, this is something I would consider in the future after the first-model-year bugs have worked there way out.

Could go to an I5. My VW's 2.5L I5 seems like it could make a lot of power if they made it like their 2.0t.

You guys are ignoring the all important fact that if nobody buys it, it's not efficient at all. You'll have a hard time selling a full size pickup with a 2.5L engine no matter how powerful it is, even with gas at $4/gallon.

I read somewhere to expect it to come in a little above the Cobalt. GM is no longer making money off their trucks and SUV's, so they have to spread that out somewhere. I wouldn't mind paying a little more for something that has an EPA rating of 40 mpg highway. You know what that means to those of us who try and get more out of a car... :thumbup: :) I was thinking I would get a Cobalt XFE this fall or winter, but now I may have to hold off a while longer.

About the price....
I work for Gm and they were hoping it could release from 15,000 to 16,000 also it gets 45 mpg on average alot of places say 40 but it actually gets 45 which is comparible if not better than the hybrids out there. Im for sure getting this but plan to mod it any suggestions starting off?? oh release date i have heard as early as summer 09 cuase they are really wanting to push this vehicle even though it is a 2010
