Nobody had any record of a PCV valve to sell me. I finally found some info (in the car's manual, that should be the final word, I'd think) and special-ordered the PCV valve. It doesn't fit the hole...

My Buick also has a PCV elbow instead of a valve. Some engines were designed to not use a valve for their PCV system.

No. A clogged fuel filter would start ok but would run badly or stall after a few seconds. You have a fuel pressure leak, either a leaking fitting/line or the check valve in your fuel pump.

For the same reason I wouldn't expect wheel bearings to be even, I also wouldn't expect sticky brake calipers to be even. I'd say it's in the transmission.

That's way more difference than could be explained by different size tires, let alone nominally the same size. Transmission swap confirmed.
