Eww, New star wars should be banned.

I love the color, best color you can get an EK coupe/sedan in in my opinion.

A few things to note:

Newer hondas keep getting cheaper dead pedals, look at that dinky thing!
Your knob is so ugly, doesn't look like it has good feel, does it?
That cluster is also superfugly with no tach. Stick a teggy cluster in there or just get an ex/si cluster if you like the random blue accent crap on the EK clusters.

When's your first fill up going to be?

GasSavers_Diemaster 08-02-2006 09:05 PM

i opened this expecting to see a delorian :D (delorian Motor Company) we need to make a MPG flux capasitor too :p u going to mod it out? at least put a tach in that cluster :)

you're looking at the first fill up. Subtract 45 miles from the trip meter. The car had 45 miles on the trip when I refueled it. I forgot to press the trip. This tank should be ~400 miles. I still suck at the clutch.

SVOboy 08-02-2006 09:16 PM

Ah, so still no gas in there. Don't worry, you're doing pretty good. It took me a long time to get condifident with my driving, you'll be a lot faster though since you have no alternative and the car you're starting out on is pretty nice about not getting jerky if you're not perfect with it.

Still say the 90-93 accord knob is the hawtness.

That's where you're wrong. The car jerks really hard if you don't go into first right. I drove some other 96-00 civics and they never jerked like that. This car is a real jerker.

Also I don't need a tach. I know exactly what rpm I'm at by my gear and speed.

SVOboy 08-02-2006 09:29 PM

That's true but when I didn't have a speedo I knew where I was but the math got to my head an made me insecure. Going into first is always gonna be jerky if you're messy with it and you have a decent clutch, so I guess that's a good sign, :p

You're not going to be able to do any redline runs anymore with no tachometer, :(

6800rpm redline
1st gear 39mph
2nd gear 72mph
3rd gear 109mph
4th gear 140mph
5th gear 182mph

Why even need a tach when I'm focused on fuel economy.

SVOboy 08-02-2006 09:45 PM

Eh, I find my tach extremely helpful, it may not be for you since it really is superfluous, just noting that I'd not go without it.

You want to buy this tall transmission off me? 20% increase in FE!

I can't, I don't have time to do any swaps or the know how. But I definetly want a taller transmission. My 1st is so short 50% of the time I'm spinning tires.

SVOboy 08-02-2006 09:53 PM

Haha, you must really gun the thing, :p

Eh, you gotta learn some day. It's really quite easy. Take it apart and put it back together in the opposite order.

I'm sure in it's current status I can make it to 45mpg once I get the hang of the stick. I have gunned it at least 10 times in this tank.

Matt Timion 08-02-2006 10:37 PM

That car is nice!

I'm a little put off by the cluster though, not that it really affects anything.

Good buy!

rh77 08-03-2006 04:50 AM

I had one

Good choice on the DX. I had a new '97 Milano Red DX with no options back in the day -- it was my first Honda. The engine is about 106-hp when you really rev it, but it got great FE. On the back roads of Ohio, I would have to drive about an hour to work in the morning. I would get 35+ without even trying, but it was mostly high-speed operation. Even with no rear sway bar, that thing handled like mad.

I was disappointed with not having a tach, so I just installed one in the left corner of the dash. It was rear ended and nearly totalled, but the insurance co. decided to fix it. The incompentent repair shop forgot to hook up one of shocks on delivery. I really like that body style.

Me too. I was like "ohhhh sh!t...Compaq got a Delorian!!!"

A cluster swap is cake. Just go find one from a junk yard.

For fast changing data like RPM, I much prefer a form of analog feedback to digital.

Got the Title today from the DMV. It's officialy my ****.

thisisntjared 08-06-2006 01:31 PM

very nice and very clean. the 98-01 looks soooo much better than the 96-97. im happy you found the better looking ek. really low miles too!! but its not like that matters since its a honda. take care of her and she will take care of you man!

it helps more to have a tach at the track so you can quickly glance to where the needle is(in the same spot) not accross the speedometer which is usually off by a couple mph and varies depending on the gear.

new car though, i wouldnt care. nice find cpac!! i guess ill be reading some of your posts eventually on honda-tech.com??

SVOboy 08-06-2006 01:33 PM

Don't you mean 98-00? Mwahhahaha.

kickflipjr 08-06-2006 02:53 PM

Jus get one of those fast and the furious tach. You coud set the shift light to 2,500 :)

Probably. I've been trolling on honda-tech and d-series.org but haven't registered to neither.

I don't plan to go to any kind of track after what happened with the altima. Some jerk off can crash my car and get away with it. Or the same thing that happened with the altima.

Compaq888 08-06-2006 09:55 PM

YAY I got my first ticket in this car. A red light camera. I should receive it in a week.

I'm just happy that it was my fault because the cops usually blame **** on me and make me pay.

Cops crashing my car on a track. $800.
Cops giving me a no lights ticket when my lights were on $300

I don't trust cops anymore.
If the cops ever need my help I will just stand there and tell them to **** off.

Really don't want to sound like an jerk, but here we go.

1. You were driving the car on the track. Not the cops.
2. If your lights really were on it could have been easily contested in court. The police cars have cameras.

I'm unsure from where your paranoia concerning the police comes. Every time you describe how the cops are out to get you and how they're all crooked it only makes me scratch my head. Why do they target you of all people?

I wasn't driving. I was waiting in line. The cop told me to pull up and I did. I don't have time to be going to court houses and contesting every bull**** ticket I get.

I don't know why they are out to get me, but the cop and track officials laughing after they smashed up my car that's it's my mom's car makes me ponder if they were out to get me.

I'm not going to take guesses why I get pulled for no reason or why cops smash my car and laugh. Just because they have a badge doesn't mean they are above the law. So far A LOT of cops take advantage of it.

I admitted the red light camera was my fault. But the other 2 incidents are just plain bull****. I lost respect for cops. I'm not going to start any **** with the cops, or run away from them. But if they need my help in any situation their requests will fall on a deaf ear.
