filled two 2.5 gal no-spill cans, then topped up the bike, which took 0.52 gallon but I had already used 10 gallons, so 10.52 gallons since last fill up. odometer at last fill up 5156, today it's 5825, 669 miles. not what I had thought.

bv350 2248 odo. 158.1 trip odo, 2.635 gal 91 octane, spilled some on ground. GAUGE WAS AT fuel AT BOTTOM OF GAUGE. but there was still fuel in the tank, 0.435 gallon still there. BREAKING IN NEW ENGINE. I had to add 1.9 miles to the trip odo so it matched total miles tracked here on Fuelly.com

Sep 2 2016

Just got the BV350 back from dealer who had to replace the entire engine due to a coolant leak, caused by faulty machining on engine case at base of cyl. 1967 odo when filled, -1780 when last filled = 187 miles driven, counting tests done at Revolution Moto. plus Dealer tech added about 0.5 gal fuel. pump said I put 2.237gal 91 oct in it. so total no more than 2.74 gal since filled last. Price was $2.819/Gal on this fill not counting what dealer added to tank to test drive. *edited, added another 0.2 gal to the guess that Adam said he added.... likely more, then added another 0.1 gal he likely added. (since mileage was still too high.) now guessing they added 0.8 gal. Looked like more than 0.5 gal to me when I checked the gas gauge when I got the bike today.

was able to pump with nozzle fully in, but then it overflowed a bit, didn't shut off automatically. Still, better than most stations that won't flow unless stop held back by hand, and never give a receipt at the pump, which Costco does.

Jul 24 2016

7/24/16, 11:04am, United Pacific gas at foodmaxx; BV350 1355odo, 51.8mi, 1.19 prem @3.059(= 43.5mpg, fuelly.com shows average from lifetime is now 62.9mpg), UNDERFILLED last time, overflowed only a little this time. So the 70.55mpg for prior fillup is wrong. so, this time I filled at slightly over half tank on these very inaccurate Piaggio fuel gauges. (this time, even though I under filled last time, it's not right that it showed full last fill up, but at 7.8 miles the gauge showed only 3/4 tank. (down 1/4 tank), AND previously, when I purposely ran it out of gas (to check ACTUAL TANK CAPACITY) when it took 3.07 gal fuel to fill, from empty, I added exactly one half gal fuel, and it barely moved the gas gauge, just up 1/8th inch. As noted before, it does hold ONLY 3.07 gallons total, when Piaggio claim 3.4 gallons capacity, AND the LOW fuel warning yellow light comes on at 125 miles when getting 62.8mpg.

topped the tank to the bottom of the fill tube, not overflow, no spills, none in the tube. Earlier I found a long screw stuck through my rear tire tread, parallel to the tread, no puncture. !

posted at modernvespa.com: subject: My 2016 BV fuel tank is NOT 3.4 GALLONS (12.87 Liters) I’m in California also, some pumps will NOT pump when nozzle is pushed all the way in. Others will, but on all of them I hold back the rubber part, fill to when I know I need to slow down, about 2 gallons, then pump in short spurts, until I hear it (if there's not a lot of traffic noise), or when it spits up a few drops, then I slow it down even more. This takes a while, especially since I take time to wear vinyl gloves. I also put the bike on center stand when filling, squat across from the pump so I can glance up occasionally, but I always watch the fill spout when pumping. I rode the BV350 today, DELIBERATELY ran it out of gas, and it took only 3.078 gal 91 octane TO FILL TO THE TOP, CAREFULLY. Only able to idle but cutting out at cruise, could see mostly dry bottom of gas tank with flashlight. 63mpg, 188.5 max miles when it ran out. My stainless 64oz spare fuel tank flask worked perfectly, was full to the top, got it all in and gas tank still shows at top of letters ‘ue’ in fuel bottom of gauge, & was just below ‘Fuel’ when ran out. about like it was when I filled it at 186 miles. which I thought still had 3/4” fuel in it but not confirmed. So on MY 2016 BV350 MAX capacity of the fuel tank is 3.1 gal. (11.7 Liters) from bone dry to full to the bottom of the spout, which is 4" deep. SO, they are not being honest with a claim of 3.4 gal (even with their disclaimer of +/- 0.25gal. what they mean is: it's actually 0.30 gal (1.1 liter) LESS than the 3.4 gallons we claim.). I love this bike, best one (of 8 bikes) I've owned in my life. but I hate having to fill it so often, with the tedious task it is, and different at every gas station. Only other thing that is irritating is the 10% fast speedometer reading in KPH, with MPH smaller. takes too long to check my speed. Taking too long can cause instant death. I'll try the tricks mentioned here for filling.

fuel gauge on these know to be wrong: shows empty when less than 70% gone. so was trying to see how far I could go. still had 1.25" fuel in the tank. Gauge was below the marks and even BELOW the small "Fuel" printing way at the bottom of gauge. and still had fuel remaining.
