Oct 3 2015

Replaced O2 sensor, PCV valve, spark plugs (.045" gap), spark plug wires, distributor cap, distributor rotor, and both fuel injectors. Truck seems to run exactly the same afterward. :( Hoping it gets better fuel economy though.

Rotated tires -- moved the fronts (which are two years newer and have more tread) to the back, and backs to the front. Also swapped left/right.

Jul 11 2015

Changed oil and filter. ACDelco PF52E filter, 5 quarts SuperTech 5w-30 conventional. Old oil was black (with less than 1000 miles on it), had a strong gasoline smell, and was likely thinned by gasoline, due to the timing wire being disconnected for a long time. Hopefully the oil will stay good now that I've corrected the issue.

Mar 1 2015

Bottom radiator hose sprung a leak, so Kevin and I replaced both radiator hoses and the thermostat. The truck had no thermostat, formerly. Just the shell of one, for some reason. That explains why it was taking so long to warm up, and possibly part of the reason for the poor fuel economy. I also replaced the ignition control module in the distributor. The truck is now running great. Ignition control module $27.60 on Amazon (I paid for this) Hoses, thermostat, and thermostat seal, $42.64 at O'Reilly (Kevin paid). Two gallons of antifreeze and two gallons of distilled water, $28.71 at Wal-Mart (Kevin paid).

Replaced MAP sensor. The old one was completely nonfunctional (tested it with a mityvac and voltmeter). New one at AutoZone, lifetime warranty. Truck no longer stalling.

Feb 7 2015

Replaced throttle position sensor. This made the truck run *much* better. No more shuddering, stumbling, or backfiring, and it's no longer running rich all the time. This was a Duralast (AutoZone) TPS112 sensor, with a "limited lifetime" warranty.

Jan 26 2015

Trying to fix no-start condition: replaced fuel pump, strainer, and filter. A lot of work (6-7 hours). Had to raise the bed to get at the fuel pump, and the old fuel filter was rusted on -- took a lot of PB Blaster and elbow grease.
