filled up in Columbus Ohio from Davenport Iowa. it appears that driving on relatively flat lands hurt mpg, where hills improve mpg. the Lancer has the kind of power that does not lose a lot of mpg uphill, but benefits from the engine relaxing downhills.

Abilene Kansas to Colorado Springs CO. I blame the high winds, high heat (ran A/C and going 75 mph (posted speed limit) not to mention it is a gradual uphill from 1000 to 6000 feet in elevation for the decline in mpg.
