Performed compression test on van with OTC 5605. Results: Cylinders 1-6: 145 psi, 163 psi, 141 psi, 160 psi, 93 psi, 155 psi. Adding a little oil to cylinder 5 increased compression to 103 psi, but still way down. Likely bad piston ring, but could be bad valve. Head gasket appears to be in good shape, but recommend a leak down test to confirm. Replaced spark plugs with Bosch Super Plus 7913 and wires with Bosch 09328 wire set. Tried exhaust pipe paper test, appears to be a leaking exhaust valve. Replaced tires with Hankook Optimo H724 P205/75R14-95S tires and added on a full size spare. Has 70,000 mile warranty from Discount Tires including sidewall problems.

Inflated tires to proper pressure (35 psi). Rear right tire was down 10 psi, all others were 5 psi. Changed motor oil and filter with Castrol GTX Magnatec 5W-30 and Purolator Pureone oil filter.

Replaced EGR Valve with BWD EGR1410. Came with a gasket. Old valve (Mopar 5281755) was completely plugged up. Maybe this will fix stalling and such. Initial test indicates higher idling rpm.

Aug 19 2016

Fuel filter replaced (Wix 10018), Neutral safety switch replaced, transmission fluid topped off, brake fluid flushed and bleed. Inspection revealed oil was a little low and brown (expected) and that the power steering fluid reservoir is practically empty. Fill this up stat. Otherwise, vehicle in great shape. Work performed by Michael Brehmer from YourMechanic.

Replaced instrument cluster. Van is a 3 speed automatic, so a 4 speed automatic cluster (tachometer) will not work (tested, neither speedometer nor tachometer worked). Plug is the red plug. Diesel sound started about 1000 miles ago. Low oil light flashed on a turn. Added oil and the sound disappeared. Make sure that each oil change uses 4 quarts of 5W-30. Fixed overflow barb, no more leaks. Replaced coolant with proper dilution. Van still overheats with the AC on during the really hot days.

Replaced fuel filler tube with Spectrum Premium FN513. Did not fix leak. Vapor tubes are cracked prior to filler tube. Engine has developed a chirp. Likely bad belt pulley bearing. Overflow barb on radiator weeps due to incorrect hose diameter. Need to address.

Changed oil (Valvoline MaxLife SAE 5W-30 High Mileage-782256), oil filter (Bosch 3402 Premium FILTECH), radiator (Carquest 431406), and coolant hoses (Dayco E71861 and D71860). Fixed body damage from October collision. Preliminary test shows no leaking of new radiator. Will do further stress test to confirm. Checked rear brake pads, >75% left. Drums look good.

Mar 12 2016

Replaced front rotors and brake pads (Carquest Wearever Brake Pads-MKD591 and Rotor-YH145063). Tightened lug nuts to 95 ft/lbs. Squeaking gone. JB Weld patch did not hold on radiator. Slow leak. Recommend use of a liquid epoxy next time.
