Showing a single fuel-up

Feb 24 2017

Drained coolant from overflow tank, radiator, and engine block; old fluid appeared to be Toyota red coolant and appeared to be in good condition. Removed battery, engine cover, serpentine belt, alternator, and intake duct from between air filter assembly and throttle body. Removed the following coolant hoses: radiator upper, radiator lower, heater core upper, heater core lower, throttle body outer, and throttle body inner. Removed thermostat housing, thermostat, and thermostat outer-seal. Removed radiator cap. Flushed overflow tank with distilled water; drained completely. Back-flushed the heater core with distilled water and air; only minor contaminants found in flushed fluid. Installed new thermostat (ACDELCO P/N 12T35D) with new thermostat outer-seal (ACDELCO, 12S2). Installed thermostat housing. Re-installed alternator. Installed new serpentine belt (DAYCO Poly Rib P/N 5060745). Installed new upper radiator hose (GATES P/N 22757), new lower radiator hose (GATES P/N 22759), new upper heater core hose (GATES P/N 19314), new lower heater core hose (GATES P/N 19315), new throttle body outer hose (GATES P/N 18265), and new throttle body inner hose (GATES 18263). Re-installed engine cover, intake duct, and battery. Filled radiator with distilled water. Ran engine; heater control set to max temperature; massaged upper and lower radiator hoses to purge air; continued filling with distilled water as necessary; ran until coolant reached 185 degrees Fahrenheit for more than 5 minutes. Drained distilled water from radiator, engine block, and lower radiator hose. Removed heater core hose connections and purged distilled water from using air. Re-installed lower radiator hose and heater core hoses. Serviced cooling system with Valvoline Zerex Asian Vehicle 50/50 Prediluted Antifreeze/Coolant (P/N 871668). Ran engine; heater control set to max temperature; massaged upper and lower radiator hoses to purge air; continued filling with new coolant as necessary; ran until coolant reached 185 degrees Fahrenheit for more than 5 minutes. Filled overflow tank with new coolant. System accepted approximately 6 quarts of new coolant. Installed new radiator cap (ACDELCO P/N 12R18). Valvoline recommends next coolant flush in 5 years or 150,000 miles. Note: New coolant has translucent pink appearance.
