Last tank with cold misfire at idle possibly due to sticking injector (has been hurting FE). Added fuel sys cleaner, which seemed to work.

UG said 24.8. Temps in the 20's and 30's for over half of this tank before spring finally arrived. I missed recording the previous tank due to a dead car battery clearing the trip odo.

Fully synthetic oil change @Wilde Subaru in Waukesha w/ their $32.99 mail coupon. It's been 4 months since my last oil change, yet I've only driven 1,600 miles, and half of that was a two day January road trip to Detroit! Ah, the joys of having two cars, and living 2 miles from work :)

Matt (Subaru tech that I know) replaced the leaking power steering pump (a common WRX problem), the front brakes (rotors and pads), cleaned and resealed the Intake Air Control Valve, and resealed both leaking valve covers, breather housings, and oil filler tube, all for only $300.00 total (I bought the pump and brakes online for $150 and $60). Car now runs like new. He even checked and noted the intake and exhaust valve lash while he had the valve covers off. It pays to know a good Subaru tech :)

Stint 2 of 2 home from Detroit. Fueled up in Albion, MI, then we stopped in Orland Park (Chicago) for dinner with Cassie's friend Krystal at Granite City brew pub. This tank had several hours worth of stop and go freeway driving in heavy traffic through a snowstorm in MI, as well as driving 80mph once conditions cleared, both of which hurt FE.

UG said 26.2, avg speed 58mph. This tank included the last stint of trip into Detroit, city driving for dinner/UFC in Southgate, travel to and from hotel to game at Calihan Hall, and then the first 90 minutes of return trip to Milwaukee. Fueled up in Albion MI. This was my first time seeing premium fuel under $2.00 in possibly over a decade! (It was $1.69 for 87 octane).

UG said 26.9, avg speed 70mph. Stint 1 of 2 to Detroit, fueled up in Battle Creek, MI. Did 80+mph for much of this tank in IL where everyone was driving that fast, and in MI where the speed limit is 70mph. First full tank after new spark plugs installed and fuel injectors cleaned.

I had been getting an occasional CEL P0304 (cylinder 4 misfire) since early November, but it always disappeared and never affected driveability... until the South Dakota road trip. Lesson learned, don't ignore what your car is trying to tell you! After limping home with the light on, I had Matt (tech I know at Wilde Subaru) swap the ignition coils on cylinders #4 and #2, which ruled the coil out, and then replace all 4 spark plugs, which took care of the problem. He also did a fuel injection service, cleaned and lubed the front and rear brakes, and did a brake fluid flush. Since RockAuto sent the wrong sized rotors, the new rotors and pads will be installed at a later date. Car still needs both valve cover gaskets replaced (oil leaking from top of both valve covers) and the power steering pump replaced because it is leaking. Will do those the next free weekend Matt has.
