I'm looking forward to the end of the lease so that I can get a better made and more reliable vehicle. Toyota quality and customer service have plummeted to inconceivable depths.

Feb 2 2019

I'm driving the car less and less because it's impossible to trust Toyota's inferior quality anymore, and its customer service is so awful that I can't see myself ever owning another Toyota. This tank, though, saw a lot of short trips around town, which didn't allow the engine to warm up enough to see better mpg.

Dec 5 2018

It's my first fill-up in quite a while because my Prius was in the shop for 35 days, waiting on a part from Japan. I first complained to Toyota about the problem in March 2017, but they blew me off for 20 months until someone at my dealer *finally* listened to my complaints and determined a defective wire assembly caused a malfunction with the pre-collision warning system. Basically, my Prius should never have been allowed on the road, and Toyota couldn't care less. This Prius is the last Toyota I'll ever drive, much less own. Poor quality, poor service.

Sep 29 2018

A disappointing tank. The weather's been exceptional, but with the continued and seemingly unsolvable electronic problems that Capital Toyota cannot repair, let alone fix, my ability to drive efficiently doesn't exist. Due to substandard quality and workmanship, this is my last Toyota.

Sep 8 2018

Lots of short trips around town didn't allow me to get the type of mpg I'm used to seeing this time of the year. A few very hot days required AC usage, which always eats into my mpg in a Prius. Having the unexplained warning message on all the time because the incompetent dipshits at Capitol Toyota can't fix the problem negatively impacts my driving efficiency.

Aug 18 2018

Foot surgery prevented me from driving for several weeks, and when I started again the distances I went were short so the average mpg I expect this time of the year has been elusive.

Jul 5 2018

Given our wild temperature swings -- 10-15 degrees below normal (cold engine and battery), followed by 15-20 degrees above normal (AC usage) -- this was a good tank of gas.

Jun 17 2018

We had a cold snap that sapped my mpg. I thought I would average around 68 for the tank but barely got over 65. We had 4 straight days where it was 20+ degrees below normal, and as I was making short drives around town my mpg was negatively impacted. Now, of course, we're 20 degrees above normal so who knows what this next tank will be like.

May 29 2018

It was an impressive tank, considering the first 150 miles were under 60 mpg due to cool weather, and stop and go driving conditions around the city. It's since warmed up and several moderate trips really helped the mpg. What's annoying about the Prius 2016 model is when the gas cap isn't on properly I get all sorts of warning lights on the dash. Unfortunately, this is happening 4-5 times per tank of gas because of a manufacturer's defect with the gas cap (for which I'm being charged while under warranty -- not happy!).

Despite still having to park the car outside and also having below normal temps, that was a good tank of gas. Car's driving well.

Apr 22 2018

My short residential move (200 feet) led to a lot of idling and ate into the overall mpg. Abnormally cold weather and having to park outside while my garage is full of moving stuff also negatively impacted mpg.

Feb 25 2018

We've had a prolonged cold snap that eviscerated my 62.5 mpg tank I was working on. Low temps are forecast to remain so mpg will struggle till we get warmer weather. Overall the car is performing great now that it's garaged at night.

Jan 28 2018

Parking the car in the garage, combined with unseasonably warm weather, has produced an incredible mpg for this month (over 61, which is 10 mpg better than last January). I'm looking forward to that continued trend of saving money on gas.

Jan 11 2018

Mild winter weather (temps in 40s and 50s) combined with closed garage parking has me getting very impressive mpg for this time of year. Lately my 20-30 mile trips around town have been averaging just over 60 mpg, so the slow start to my last tank finished nicely as the mpg kept rising after the first 200 miles.

Dec 23 2017

For this time of the year, it was an exceptional tank of gas. What has helped most, though, is parking the car inside the garage. Because the battery is already warm, I can get at least another 5 mpg (and often more like 10 mpg).

Nov 19 2017

Overall, it was a decent tank. The weather's getting cooler with shorter trips, so mpg is going down, but my overall average this year is higher and more efficient than last year, so it's just a matter of having learned how to drive the car better.

Nov 2 2017

The weather moderated (even reached 70 a few days) and several longish trips (30 miles) with temps in the 40s were met with excellent hypermiling around town. I didn't think I'd get over 62 mpg in October in Oregon, so to get nearly 64 on this tank was impressive.

Oct 20 2017

The temperature plunged to 20 degrees below normal, which made it difficult to keep the engine and battery warm enough to get good mpg for this time of the year. Otherwise the car is driving fine and as expected.

Oct 11 2017

Temps have fallen and it's been cooler than normal, so gone are the days of great mpg because the battery is cold and takes so long to warm up. Plus, several short trips around town doomed a great tank of gas.

Sep 13 2017

A couple of long trips to the coast with tailgaters behind me pretty much destroyed my mpg this tank, and the weather didn't do me any favors with more heatwaves that required the AC. I was lucky to get what I got.

Aug 28 2017

It was another good tank, but I was disappointed because it should have been closer to 72. My mom was in the car one day and insisted on full-blast AC for all 20 miles, and there was no way to recover from the Prius' fatal mpg flaw.

Aug 11 2017

It's going to be hard to beat that tank, but it is possible. It was brutally hot during this stretch, so I ran my errands in the morning, early afternoon and at night, so the engine was already warm. I almost never used the AC. My goal is to average over 70 mpg for this month, which I'm well on my way to achieving.

Jul 28 2017

It's been getting a little warmer so I had to use the AC somewhat, but almost 70 mpg is another incredible tank of gas. That's going to change next tank as we experience record heat, so more AC usage will decrease the mpg, but what I'm able to achieve is still remarkable for a car that's rated 52 mpg overall.

Jul 14 2017

Another outstanding tank of gas. Weather is getting warmer so any AC usage will dramatically cut into fuel efficiency, but otherwise I'm hypermiling as often as possible and avoiding a lot of city driving to improve mpg.

Jun 27 2017

Another exceptional tank. We have had great weather, save for 3 days when it was 25 degrees above normal for June. Still haven't used car's AC, as doing so would reduce mileage efficiency by at least 15 mpg. Still learning how to achieve maximum efficiency in the Prius.

That was my best tank ever. Favorable weather and driving conditions helped, plus having driven the car for more than a year has shown me the finer points to hybrid driving. I expect more tanks like this as the summer goes on.
