Fuel gauge needle was halfway on red zone to empty; MFD said 20 miles left. Should have taken at least another gallon. What happened? Possible: 1) Fuel gauge is wrong? Not likely, since mpg seems too high for 75% city--it should be more around 40mpg or even less. 2) Fuel foamed? Could be, since happened before at this pump. But, last time uses same pump topping off was fine. Put in 14.358 gallons on July 19 at same pump. Now, topping off too, it was only 12.69. Could see fuel, not bubbles. Waited long time and barely went down, still in filler neck. Maybe bubbles inside pushing fuel up??? 3) Valero pump put out more fuel than it said??? I already added 1.3 gallons after the first pump shut off, which is around what it would usually take.
