A Paramedic.

Then I moved to the big city - Kansas City. I got a new '99 Civic Si and speed was the name of the game. My very first ticket (since driving with a permit at 15) was at age 22: 120 in a 65. The speedo actually showed faster, and the officer was rather nice about it, and said he cut 15 mph off, so it was 135!

Hmmm.... A paramedic, huh? Then you've seen what can result from a tire failure, another driver's in-the-way reaction, or an object / puddle / hole in the road ... at these speeds! Blood, guts, death & destruction! A "slow learner", too? Just kidding!

I know -- chalk it up to overconfidence of said vehicle's reliability and the perception of superb skills of the driver I admit, sometimes it was too easy to push the limits once behind the wheel -- I forgot the rest of the world and just drove. Shoot, that was way back in the late 90's!

After moved to KC I worked in the ER/Trauma setting, so I have no excuse for my actions because I saw the results of "when things go wrong" regularly. Everybody's personality changes when they get behind the wheel. I drove stupidly then. I hope I'm "All growns up now"
